About the role

The role sits within our laboratory team, specialised in the control and analysis of SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) embryonated eggs for the biotech and pharmaceutical sector. It combines laboratory work with animal sampling, always following strict protocols and ensuring traceability and compliance with animal welfare and biosecurity rules.

Responsibilities

  • Collection of biological samples from animals (blood, swabs, faeces, etc.) following established protocols and under veterinary supervision.
  • Identification, recording and safe transport of samples to the laboratory.
  • Preparation of samples for microbiological, serological or molecular analysis.
  • Performing basic laboratory techniques (pipetting, reagent preparation, centrifugation, etc.).
  • Strict compliance with the biosecurity standards required for SPF.
  • Recording and follow-up of results in physical and digital formats, maintaining traceability of samples and results.
  • Supporting internal and external audits.
  • Cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation of equipment and working materials.
  • Stock control of reagents and consumables, ordering and receiving materials.
  • Basic preventive maintenance of equipment and verification of calibrations.
  • Working with the veterinary and production teams on the interpretation of results and on drafting and reviewing SOPs.

Requirements

  • Training in clinical laboratory work, analysis and quality control, biotechnology or similar.
  • Previous experience with basic laboratory techniques, preferably in microbiology, molecular biology or serology.
  • Ability to follow standardised procedures and keep accurate records.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to biosecurity and animal welfare standards.
  • Driving licence and own vehicle. On-site position in Cascante (Navarre).
  • A plus: experience collecting biological samples from animals and handling them in controlled environments, and experience in regulated environments (GMP, GLP or equivalent).
